My connection seems slow to me, how do I verify this?
The following steps are necessary to check to see if your percieved slowness is due to your connection to our network, or an internal issue you can resolve yourself.
- Step 1. Locate all Maxwire indoor equipment. You should have a D-Link Router we provided, these are normally blue and silver, or black and silver, the D-Link logo is on the device. You will also have a radio transceiver, this is a white box labeled Alvarion, or you will have a black Power Supply with Motorola written on it, depending on your location.
- Step 2. Power off any secondary networking devices such as wireless routers, additional switches or hubs. If any of these devices are connected into the provided D-Link router, disconnect them at this time.
- Step 3. Power down all PCs, desktop or laptop, as well as any internet connected gaming consoles in your home.
- Step 4. Make sure that the PC or laptop you are going to test from is directly connected to our D-Link router via a network patch cord (this looks like a heavier telephone cord with a larger end).
- Step 5. If you have the white Alvarion (BreezeAccess) box, there are two black cables that go into it, one has a silver screw on connector, do not disconnect this connector. You should gently pull out the other black connector, this is its power connector. Wait three seconds and plug it back in. You will note there are two LED lights on the other end labeled PWR and WLNK. These LEDs will go through a series of blinking. Once they are both on and solid (up to 4 minutes) proceed to Step 6. Step 5b. If you have the black power connector labeled Motorola, unplug it from the outlet, wait three seconds and plug it back in. Please wait 3 minutes before proceeding to Step 6.
- Step 6. There is a black power connector on the back of the provided D-Link Router. Unplug that, wait three seconds and plug that back in. The lights on the front of the device will begin flashing. Sometimes this will take up to 4 minutes for the device to allow data to pass as it completes its start up routine.
- Step 7. Power on the PC or laptop you are testing with. Make sure There are no applications running that make connection to the internet, this includes email, software updates, music downloads, streaming video/audio etc.
- Step 8. Please run the speed test below and fill in the form with the results.
